WALSENBURG — The organizers of the Sonic Bloom festival made good on their promise to return to Huerfano County, by applying for a special use application for their festival to be held June 16 through the 20th.
David Bobian of the Huerfano Land Use Department, who presented the application to the Huerfano County Commissioners, noted there were a few minor omissions in their application, but nothing that should derail the process. The big difference for this year is their request to increase attendence from last year’s 4,500 to 7,500. The commissioners recommended the application process be moved to the public hearing stage.
The commissioners decided to have two winners in their Huerfano County trails logo contest, with plans to use the differing logos in different aspects of the trail signage. The two high school students who won- one from John Mall and one from La Veta, will both receive a $500 check.
Dominic Martinez, the county adinistration’s new intern, will not continue in the Best and Brightest program, and instead will be hired by the county as a regular employee.
In other business, the commissioners named the World Journal as the county’s legal paper of record.
