Dora (Dee Dee) Van Slyke, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at Penrose Hospital in Colorado Springs, CO. She was 74.
She was born on July 17, 1941 in San Miguel, NM to parents Adele and Juan Romero.
Dora was united in marriage to William Van Slyke who was from Casper, Wyoming.
She is preceded in death by parents Adele and Juan, sisters Lydia and Hellen, brothers Marcelino and Max.
She is survived by daughters Beverly (Henry) Aragon,, Lakewood, CO, Mardel (Andy) Martinez, Denver, CO, son William (Valerie) Van Slyke, Trinidad, CO, grandchildren, Sebastian (Candice) Van Slyke, Amarillo, TX, William “BJ” (Ashley) Van Slyke, Johnstown, CO, Amanda and Eric Trancoso, Trinidad, CO and one great grandchild, Raiden Trancoso,
Also surviving are special family friends, the Cummings family, the Romero family, many special friends including, Mary, Arlene, Gerri and Cindy, numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles , and cousins .
Those that knew and loved Dee Dee, knew that she loved life and her family, especially her grandchildren, who she adored.
She was our little “chatterbox”. Dee Dee loved pizza and Pepsi and also like to collect pigs.
She was employed many years at the Trinidad State Nursing Home and at the diner.
PLEASE NOTE: Funeral Memorial Mass will be celebrated Friday, February 12, 2016 at 10AM at the SEBASTIANI GYM.
Private inurnment will be at a later date.
Mom (Grandma), you will be sadly missed. We love you with all our hearts. Goodbye for only a short time. We know you are in a better place where one day we will meet you again. May you rest in peace.
