Jan. 26NortheastCharette Lakes: Closed for the season. Cimarron River: We had no reports from anglers this week. Conchas Lake: Fishing pressure was light and fishing was slow for all species. Cowles Ponds: We had no reports from anglers this week. Coyote Creek: We had no reports from anglers this week. Eagle Rock Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week. Eagle Nest Lake: As of this past Sunday, the ice averaged about 13 inches thick across the lake. Fishing was fair to good using jigs tipped with meal worms for a combination of perch, trout and kokanee. The kokanee were caught by anglers fishing near the boat ramp. Lake Alice: Ice fishing for trout was very good using ice jigs, power eggs, garlic cheese, salmon eggs, homemade dough bait and PowerBait. The ice thickness remained at about 14 inches. Lake Maloya: The ice thickness as of this past Sunday was from 9 to 11 inches. Fishing for trout was very good using homemade dough bait, corn, PowerBait, salmon eggs and ice jigs. Monastery Lake: Closed due to ice covering the lake. This lake is not open to Ice fishing. Morphy Lake: Closed for the season. Pecos River: Stream flow on Monday was 33 cfs. Fishing in the Villanueva area was fair using power eggs and salmon eggs for trout. Red River: Stream flow below the hatchery on Monday was 47cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week. Rio Costilla: We had no reports from anglers this week. Put this one on your list for great spring fishing. Rio Grande: Stream flow on Monday at the Taos Junction Bridge was 501 cfs. Fishing was slow but there were a few trout caught by anglers using night crawlers and streamers. J. P. Cognasi caught a nice 18-inch, 2.5-pound trout while fishing the river between Espanola and Taos on Sunday. He was using a night crawler. We had no reports on other species. Rio Hondo: We had no reports from anglers this week. Rio Pueblo: We had no reports from anglers this week. Santa Barbara: We had no reports from anglers this week. Santa Cruz Reservoir: We had no reports from anglers this week. Shuree Ponds: We had no reports from anglers this week. Springer Lake: Ice fishing is not allowed on this lake. Storrie Lake: Closed to fishing at this time due to thin ice conditions. For ice condition updates, contact the State Park office at 505-425-7278. Stubblefield Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week. Ute Lake: Fishing was slow to fair using jigging spoons and blade baits at 35 to 40 feet for walleye. A few white bass were caught by anglers working up the river arms and using jigging spoons. We had no reports on other species. The surface water temp was 40 degrees. Winsor Creek: We had no reports from anglers this week. NorthwestAbiquiu Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week. Animas River: Water flow near Aztec on Monday morning was 248 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week. Albuquerque Area Drains: Trout fishing on the Albuquerque Drain, Albuquerque Drain South, Belen Drain and the Corrales Drain was fair to good using spinners, wax worms, power eggs, small jigs and salmon eggs. AJ Trujillo fished the Belen Drain with his brother Gerald Trujillo and his wife, Amber Trujillo of Los Lunas. They caught a walleye, carp, catfish, three largemouth bass and a trout. All were caught on power jigs with the exception of the trout which was caught on a Rooster Tail. We had no reports from the other drains. Bluewater Lake: Opened for ice fishing Saturday, Jan. 16 with an ice thickness ranging from 7 to 9 inches. Fishing was fair to good using atomic jigs for trout. Canjilon Lakes: Closed by the U.S. Forest Service until further notice due to danger from falling trees. Chama River: Monday morning water flows below El Vado and Abiquiu were 104 cfs and 70 cfs respectively. Fishing below Abiquiu was good using chartreuse and yellow PowerBait, Berkley power eggs, micro mays and crane flies for trout. We had no reports from below El Vado. Cochiti Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week. El Vado Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week. Fenton Lake: The entire lake with the exception of the river inlet opened to ice fishing and as of Monday, the ice thickness was about 11 inches. Fishing was good using wax worms, salmon eggs, garlic PowerBait, small Kastmasters and Swedish Pimples for trout. Heron Lake: As of Monday, the ice was reported as 10 inches thick. Jemez Waters: Stream flow on the Jemez River near Jemez Springs on Monday morning was 26 cfs. Fishing on the Jemez was fair using wax worms and salmon eggs for trout. Fishing pressure was very light. We had no reports on other streams in the area. Laguna Del Campo: Closed for the season. Lake Farmington: We had no reports from anglers this week. Manzano Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week. Navajo Lake: Fishing was slow for all species. Fishing pressure was very light. San Gregorio Lake: We had no reports from anglers. San Juan River: Water flow below Navajo Lake on Monday morning was 339 cfs. Trout fishing through the Quality Waters was good using red larva, bunny leeches, midge clusters, egg patterns and streamers. Anglers reported catching large numbers of small fish. Fishing through the bait waters was good using leech patterns, worms, power eggs and salmon eggs for trout. Seven Springs Brood Pond: We had no reports from anglers this week. Tingley Beach: Trout fishing at the Central Pond and Youth Pond was good using wax worms, salmon eggs, PowerBait and small jigs. Trout fishing at the Bob Gerding Catch and Release Pond was very good using egg patterns, bunny leeches, small streamers and San Juan worms. We had no reports on other species. Trout Lakes: We had no reports from anglers this week. SouthwestAlumni Pond: Fishing was good using worms and PowerBait for trout. Bear Canyon: Fishing was good using PowerBait, power eggs, corn and worms for trout. We had no reports on other species.
