Benita R. Salbato, age 65, passed away after a lengthy illness at home, surrounded by her family on January 17, 2016.
She was born in O’Neill, Nebraska on January 30, 1950 to Elane (Milnar) and Anton A Kaup who preceded her in death.
She attended Stuart High School in 1968. Benita then attended Kearney College.
On August 23, 1970, Benita was united in marriage to Gene Salbato at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Stuart Nebraska.
She was employed as an insurance agent for 45 years, having worked for Garbo Insurance, Plant Insurance and most recently Griego Insurance Agency, where she worked until her illness prevented her from doing so.
Benita was a member of Holy Trinity Parish.
She enjoyed playing slots. Her greatest joy was being with family and her grandchildren.
Survivors are husband Gene of home address, sons Mike (Melissa) Salbato, Trinidad, Wayne (Michelle) Salbato, Trinidad, grandchildren, Mara , Myka, Mason and Paige, sister Brenda (Harvey) Sutton, Omaha, NE, brothers Rod (Nora) Kaup, Stuart, NE, Mel (Kathy) Kaup, Omaha, NE, Jack (Sharon) Kaup, Stuart, NE, sister in law Jean Salbato, Trinidad, numerous nieces, nephews and many dear friends including Karen and Ed Griego who became her extended family, Lorraine Lucero for her friendship and Sangre de Cristo Hospice Staff and Christy Worley who all gave her excellent care and comfort.
Funeral Mass will be Monday, January 25, 2016 at 10AM at Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
Inurnment will follow at the Trinidad Catholic Cemetery
