Joseph L. Duran, age 70, passed away at home on November 27, 2015 after a lengthy illness.
He was born in Trinidad, Colorado on February 5, 1945, the son of Audelia (Blan) and Andres J. Duran.
Joseph proudly served his country in the United States Marines Corps.
On October 22, 1966, he was united in marriage to Esther Diaz.
He was employed as a coal miner for several years at the Allen/New Elk Mine. Joe was a member of UMWA #9856.
He loved playing the lottery. Joe enjoyed having breakfast at Denny’s and his favorite, the Family Seed. He also liked watching Westerns, especially Gunsmoke. He liked to cook and taking care of his dog Little Bit.
Preceding him in death are parents Audelia and Andres Duran, beloved wife Esther, and brother Andy Duran.
Survivors are son Raymond Duran, Denver, daughter Terry Duran, Trinidad, grandchildren, Michael, Takisha, Kyle and Bianca, brothers and sisters ,Gene (Margie) Duran, Elvira Dolce, Virginia (Al) Ortiz, James Duran, Donald Duran all of Trinidad, Godchildren, Doreen Massarotti, Chad Dolce, Takisha Duran, numerous nephews and nieces, including special niece Jamie DiVello, and many friends.
Funeral services will be held FRIDAY, DECEMBER 11, 2015 with Funeral Mass at 1 pm at Holy Trinity Church.
Inurnment will follow at the Trinidad Catholic Cemetery.
