SPRINGER — The Springer Chamber of Commerce is gearing up for their fall activities. Coming up on Halloween evening from 5:30-7:30 pm, little ghosts and ghouls are in for a noteworthy experience at the historic Springer Museum where they can tour the museum and go trick or treating in several of the museum’s rooms. This is the second annual “Trick or Treating at the Museum” event, and chamber president, Anna Phillips predicts this year will be “more fun and better than the last.” She anticipates possible participation from surrounding towns because everyone had so much fun last year.
As the fall weather becomes cooler, the chamber is focusing on a different kind of “chili” as they sell chili ristras. Each Saturday, starting October 24, chamber member Dusty Davis will have his trailer of ristras set up by the Cactus Building on Main Street so interested parties can purchase what they want. One foot ristras are $15 each and two foot ristras are $25, which Davis points out is a bargain price for a ristra. Those interested in reserving their ristras can call Davis at 575-483-0160.
On November 1, on the cusp of the Halloween candy high, everyone who wants to can enjoy a chamber sponsored musical event featuring the live music of Tommy Kear out of Angel Fire. If the weather stays pleasant, Kear will play his music in the gazebo at Museum Park, but if the weather is cold, the concert will take place next door at Luna. The concert is scheduled for 2-4 pm.
Following this month’s chamber meeting on October 14, members went to Colfax General Long Term Care Facility and presented them with a cake commemorating all of their hard work and dedication to the patients at the facility. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid have given Colfax General Long Term Care a five star rating for three years running, and the facility’s 24 nurses care for the elderly and anyone needing care for injuries or other conditions. The facility, and the employees who are its life’s blood, truly are an asset to the community.
