In Loving Memory of Mary Alice Guthrie

Mary Alice Guthrie, age 93, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 21, 2015, in Clayton, New Mexico.

Viewing will be held at Hass Funeral Home in Clayton, New Mexico at 10:00 AM on Monday, October 26, 2015 followed by a graveside service at the Clayton Memorial Cemetery at 11:00 AM with Rev. Kyle Bueermann, pastor of the First Baptist Church in Clayton officiating.

guthrieMary Alice Guthrie was born on January 19, 1922 in Clayton, New Mexico to Earnest Guy Coons and Ruth Levon (Means) Coons. Mary Alice was a caring Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother and Great-Great-Grandmother. She was well known by many through-out her career with several doctors in Clayton and Dalhart, as well as working at Clayton High School as a secretary. Mary Alice was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church and very passionate about her service to God and her community. She is well loved and will be missed by all those whose lives she has touched. Mary Alice married Willard Guthrie on September 12, 1943 in Clayton, New Mexico and he preceded her in death on November 22, 1992. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her mother, Ruth Coons, father, Guy Coons and a brother, Bob Coons.

SURVIVORS:

2 SONS: David Guthrie and his wife Jacque of Whidbey Island, Washington and Dan Guthrie and his wife Tammy of Amarillo, Texas.

3 GRANDCHILDREN: Jennifer Estrada and her husband Adam of Cimarron, New Mexico and Nicole Guthrie and Aaron Guthrie.

8 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

MEMORIALS: The family asks that memorials be made in Memory of Mary Alice Guthrie to the First United Methodist Church, 200 N. 5th Ave, Clayton, NM 88415.
