Phil G. Padilla 78, passed away on Sunday September 27, 2015 at Parkview Medical Center in Pueblo, CO. Phil was born on February 27, 1937 in Amalia, NM to Jose Antonio and Maria Rebecca Padilla.
He is preceded in death by his parents Jose and Maria Padilla, his brothers Edwin and Charles Padilla, sisters Benita Vialpando, Margie Padilla, Toni Sanders, Bessie Vallejos, and Margie Padilla. He was also preceded in death by his son Phillip Padilla.
He is survived by his Padilla family which includes his son Chris Padilla and wife Cathy of Raton, daughters Shelia Padilla Geck and husband Dennis of Denver, CO, and Paula Diederichs and husband Tim of Denver, CO. Brothers Joe Padilla and wife Georgina, Filbert Padilla and wife Tina, and Roger Padilla. Sisters Faye Lopez and husband John and Ida Lucero. Numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends also survive.
Phil was born in New Mexico but soon moved to the mountains of Colorado with his family. They lived in Tercio and Torres communities while his father worked on Vermejo Park Ranch and soon he joined him working on the ranch. Phil graduated from Primero High School. After graduating he married the mother of his children, Louise Padilla, and he worked as a truck driver for Sawaya before becoming a coal miner at the Allen Mine. He settled in Trinidad and raised his family. His family will always remember their adventures they spent with him up in the mountains, camping, his singing to them and yodeling, and stories of his youth.
Cremation has taken place and a family burial took place on Saturday October 3, 2015 in the Tercio, CO Cemetery. He will be loved and missed by all the Padilla Family and friends.
