Oct. 6.NortheastCharette Lakes: We had no reports from anglers this week. Cimarron River: Stream flow on Monday below Eagle Nest was 11 cfs. Fishing was fair to good using red annelids, copper John Barrs, brassies, salmon eggs and worms for trout. We had no reports from the Gravel Pit Lakes. Clayton Lake: Fishing was fair using worms and chicken liver for catfish. Fishing was fair to good using wooly buggers and spinners for trout. We had no reports on other species. Conchas Lake: Fishing was fair to good using worms for bluegill. Fishing was fair using drop shot rigs, top water lures and sweet beavers for largemouth bass and smallmouth bass. Fishing was fair to good using spoons and blade baits for white bass. Fishing was slow to fair using liver, shrimp and stink baits for catfish. A few walleye were caught by anglers using jigs tipped with minnows and night crawlers. We had no reports on other species. The surface water temp was in the low to mid 70s. Cowles Ponds: We had no reports from anglers this week. Coyote Creek: We had no reports from anglers this week. Eagle Rock Lake: Fishing was very good using worms, salmon eggs, PowerBait and spinners for trout. Eagle Nest Lake: Trout fishing was fair using lemon twist and salmon peach PowerBait from the bank and from anchored boats. Fishing was good using worms for perch. There was no snagging action for kokanee this past week and we had no reports on northern pike. Gallinas River: We had no reports from anglers this week. Hopewell Lake: Fishing was fair using PowerBait and worms for trout. Lake Alice: Fishing was good using PowerBait and salmon eggs for trout. Lake Maloya: Fishing was fair using PowerBait, salmon eggs and Pistol Petes for trout. Los Pinos: Fishing was fair to good using spinners, salmon eggs, copper John Barrs and wooly buggers for trout. Maxwell Lake 13: Fishing was slow for all species. Monastery Lake: Fishing was slow to fair using PowerBait and worms for trout. Morphy Lake: Trout fishing was fair to good using PowerBait, salmon eggs, wooly buggers and Pistol Petes under a bubble. Pecos River: Stream flow on Monday was 61 cfs. Trout fishing was good using prince nymphs, copper John Barrs, salmon eggs, PowerBait, Panther Martins and worms. We had no reports on catfish. Red River: Stream flow below the hatchery on Monday was 48 cfs. Fishing was good using streamers, San Juan worms, PowerBait, worms and salmon eggs for trout. Rio Costilla: Stream flow on Monday near Costilla was 1.5 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week. Rio Grande: Stream flow on Monday at the Taos Junction Bridge was 286 cfs. Fishing was good using wooly buggers, poundmeisters, small crank baits, spinners, PowerBait and salmon eggs for trout. We had no reports on bass or pike. Rio Hondo: Stream flow on Monday was 18 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week. Rio Pueblo: Stream flow near Penasco was 11 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week. Santa Barbara: We had no reports from anglers this week. Santa Cruz Reservoir: Fishing was good using Pistol Petes under a bubble, PowerBait, salmon eggs and worms for trout. We had no reports on other species. Shuree Ponds: Fishing was good using wooly buggers, Pistol Petes and San Juan worms for trout. Springer Lake: Fishing was slow for all species. Storrie Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week. Stubblefield Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week. Ute Lake: Fishing was fair to good using top water lures, tubes and jigs for smallmouth bass and largemouth bass. Fishing was fair using worms for bluegill. Fishing was good using slab spoons and blade baits for limits of white bass. Walleye fishing has picked up with several reports of fish being caught by anglers using jig and minnow combinations. Fishing was fair using chicken liver, beef liver and stink bait in shallow water for catfish. We had no reports on other species. The surface water temp was in the mid to high 60s. Winsor Creek: We had no reports from anglers this week. NorthwestAbiquiu Lake: Kokanee snagging opens October 1 and runs through December 31. Fishing was fair using worms, tubes, curly tail grubs, and night crawlers for smallmouth bass. We had no reports on other species. The surface water temp was in the mid 60s. Animas River: Water flow near Aztec on Monday morning was 171 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week. Albuquerque Area Drains: We had no reports from anglers this week. Bluewater Lake: Fishing was slow for all species. A few tiger muskies were caught by anglers using crank baits and spinner baits. Brazos River: We had no reports from anglers this week. Canjilon Lakes: Closed by the U.S. Forest Service until further notice due to danger from fallen trees. Chama River: Kokanee snagging opens October 1 and runs through December 31 on that section of river from El Vado Lake to the west boundary of the Chama River Wildlife and Fishing Area. We had no reports of kokanee snagging this week. Monday morning water flows below El Vado and Abiquiu were 501 cfs and 407 cfs respectively. Fishing below El Vado was fair using spinners, wooly buggers, PowerBait and night crawlers for brown and rainbow trout. We had no reports from below Abiquiu. Cochiti Lake: Fishing was slow with just a few smallmouth bass caught by anglers using jigs and crank baits. We had no reports on other species. The surface water temp was in the mid to upper 60s. El Vado Lake: Fishing was slow for all species but there were a few smallmouth bass caught by anglers trolling crank baits and spinners near the dam. Fenton Lake: Fishing slowed considerably over the past weekend with just a few trout caught by anglers using salmon eggs. Heron Lake: Closed to kokanee snagging here and at Willow Creek until November 14. No kokanee may be in possession at either location during the closure. Fishing was slow for all species. Fishing pressure was very light. Jackson Lake: Fishing was fair using PowerBait, salmon eggs, worms and spinners for trout. We had no reports on other species. Jemez Waters: Stream flow near Jemez on Monday morning was 24 cfs. Fishing on the Jemez was fair using worms and salmon eggs for trout. We had no reports from other streams in the area. Laguna Del Campo: Fishing was fair using worms, PowerBait and salmon eggs for trout. Lake Farmington: We had no reports from anglers this week. Nonmotorized watercraft are now allowed on Lake Farmington. Fees are $50 for the season or $5 daily. Manzano Lake: Fishing was slow for all species. Navajo Lake: Kokanee snagging opened October 1 and runs through December 31. The Pine Main boat ramp and the surrounding no wake zone will be closed to anglers during the month of October to allow the Department of Game and Fish to harvest kokanee eggs and sperm. This closed area will reopen to anglers November 1. Anglers did well snagging near the dam over the weekend. Fishing was fair using worms, creature baits, tubes, spinners and crank baits for smallmouth bass and largemouth bass. Fishing was fair using roe sacs and liver for catfish. We had no reports on other species. The surface water temp was in the mid 60s. San Gregorio Lake: Fishing was slow. San Juan: Water flow below Navajo Lake on Monday morning was 616 cfs. Fishing through the Quality Water section was good using Griffith’s gnats, scintillas, root beers, parachute Adams, zebra midges, small pheasant tail nymphs and wooly buggers. The dry fly action has been a bit sporadic. Fishing through the bait waters was fair to good using salmon eggs, worms, jerk baits, wooly buggers, copper John Barrs and San Juan worms. Seven Springs Brood Pond: We had no reports from anglers this week. Tingley Beach: Fishing was slow for all species. Trout Lakes: Trout fishing was fair to good using spinners, Pistol Petes, salmon eggs and PowerBait. SouthwestAlumni Pond: Otter Rivas of Las Cruces caught two nice bass here last week. He was fishing at night and using worms. We had no reports on other species. Bear Canyon: Fishing was slow for all species. Fishing pressure was very light. Bill Evans Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week. Caballo Lake: Fishing was slow for all species. Fishing pressure was very light. Elephant Butte Lake: Fishing was fair using crank baits and spoons for white bass. Fishing for largemouth bass and smallmouth bass was rated as slow to fair for anglers using crank baits, plastic worms, sweet beavers, senkos and jerk baits. Fishing was fair using shrimp, night crawlers and cut bait for catfish. We had no reports on other species. The surface water temp ranged from the low to mid 70s. Escondida Lake: Fishing was slow for all species. Gila River: Stream flow as of Monday morning was 112 cfs. Fishing was slow for all species. Glenwood Pond: Fishing was good using PowerBait, Pistol Petes and salmon eggs for trout. Lake Roberts: We had no reports from anglers this week. Percha Dam: Fishing was slow for all species. Quemado Lake: Fishing was fair to good using PowerBait and salmon eggs for trout. We had no reports on tiger muskie. Rio Grande: Stream flow below Elephant Butte as of Monday morning was .00 cfs. We had no reports from anglers. Snow Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week. Young Pond: Fishing was slow for all species. SoutheastBataan Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week. Black River: Stream flow at Malaga on Monday was 55 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week. Blue Hole Park Pond: Fishing was fair using PowerBait and worms for trout. We had no reports on other species. Bonito Lake: Closed until further notice by the city of Alamogordo due to fire damage. Bosque Redondo: Fishing was slow for all species. Bottomless Lakes: We had no reports from anglers this week. Brantley Lake: Anglers should practice catch-and-release for all fish here as high levels of pesticides have been found in some fish. Fishing was good using flukes, plastic worms, crank baits and senkos for largemouth bass. Fishing was fair using crank baits and curly tail grubs for white bass. Fishing was fair using beef liver and shrimp for channel catfish and flathead catfish. We had no reports on other species. Carlsbad Municipal Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week. Chaparral Park Lake: Fishing was slow for all species. Fishing pressure was very light. El Rito Creek: Fishing was fair using PowerBait and salmon eggs for trout. We had no reports on other species. Eunice Lake: Fishing was slow for all species. Green Meadow Lake: Fishing was slow for all species. Greene Acres Lake: Fishing was slow to fair using shrimp, cheese and worms for catfish. We had no reports on other species. Grindstone Reservoir: Fishing was fair to good using PowerBait, worms, salmon eggs and Pistol Petes under a bubble for trout. Jal Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week. Lake Van: Fishing was slow for all species. Oasis Park Lake: Fishing was slow with just a few catfish caught by anglers using blood baits and worms. Fishing pressure was very light. Perch Lake: Fishing was very good using beef liver, live worms and small plastic worms for catfish. We had no reports on other species. Ruidoso River: Stream flow at Hollywood on Monday was 9.1 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week. Santa Rosa Lake: Fishing was good using worms, grubs, tubes and crank baits for smallmouth bass. Anglers did well from the bank near the dam and from boats. Fishing for all other species was slow. Sumner Lake: Fishing was fair using deep diving crank baits, curly tail grubs and spoons for white bass. Fishing was slow to fair using top water lures, tubes, creature baits and grubs for smallmouth bass and largemouth bass. Fishing was fair using worms for bluegill.
