In Loving Memory of Andrew C. Gomez, Sr.

Andrew C. Gomez, Sr., 63, was born on January 27, 1952 in Raton, New Mexico to Rose Ortega and Joe “Ernie” Gomez. He passed away peacefully at his home on September 29, 2015.

Andy is survived by his wife, Josie Gomez; children, Rebecca Gomez and Andrew Gomez, Jr. and wife Valerie; grandchildren, Andrew E. and Diego Gomez; brothers and sisters, Joe Gomez and wife Loretta of Denver, CO, Noby Gomez and wife Nancy of Raton, NM, Frank Gomez and wife Sandra of Raton, NM, brother-in-law John Martinez of Raton, NM, Maryanne Sproule and husband Wayne of Raton, NM, and Jackie Gomez and companion Jim Davis of Kansas; and many nieces and nephews whom he loved very much.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Rose Gomez; brother, Anthony Gomez; sister, Rose Martinez; and nephew, Mike Gomez.

gomez andrewAndy graduated from Raton High School in 1969. He enlisted in the US Air Force in 1974 and later retired from Civil Service at Holloman Air Force Base. Andy loved music, baseball, football, fishing, camping, and being in the mountains. You could always find him at the lake with his family. He was loved by many friends and family who all supported him during his battle with cancer. He will be dearly missed by all.

The family greeted friends from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm on October 2, 2015 at Alamogordo Funeral Home Chapel.

The Rosary for Andrew Gomez was recited on Saturday, October 3, 2015 at Our Lady Of The Light Catholic Church, by Toni Gutierrez. Mass of the Resurrection was celebrated at 11:00 am, Saturday, October 3, 2015 at Our Lady Of The Light Catholic Church with Father Christopher Williams, Celebrant.

The Gomez family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the services.

    We send our deepest heartfelt sympathy to Andy’s family & friends. He was one of our Raton High School Class of “1969” classmates, whom we have fond memories of, & some had not seen since graduation. God Bless & RIP Andy!
