The Lady Tigers hosted the Penasco Lady Panthers Friday evening in Tiger Gym hoping to turn things around after falling to Penasco in three in their previous meeting this season.
As game one got underway Raton took a lead and never looked back as the girls played some of their best volleyball with good blocks at the net and well placed volleys that ended in points for the Lady Tigers. The Lady Panthers also seemed to be having problems getting under the ball and making good passes to get the ball back over the net.
In game two it was much the same as Raton took an early lead and kept on going when the final serve went over the net it was another 25-12 win for Raton.
Coach Tina Dorrance changed up game three and used several of her bench for this game which gave them some playing time however the result was much different as the game stayed close. At one point however Penasco had developed a six point lead. Raton battled back and tied the game at 14 and 17. it was back and forth and again the score was tied at 23. From there a couple of good serves and bad passes by Raton allowed the Lady Panthers to take the game.
Coach Dorrance again put the starting six in and Raton took the lead. The girls made the plays at the net and kept the volleys going for the points. Raton took the last serve and put it over the net and Penasco missed the pass and ended the game.
