Friday morning Raton High students assembled in Tiger Gym for their annual Homecoming Rally where all the teams were introduced and Cheer and Dance performed.
Coaches introduced their teams and commented on some of the little known tidbits about the team such as the football team starting out with only 16 players before school started and now have 28 players on the field and the entire team is certified drug free. Volleyball has only two seniors this year in Cierra Brooks and Daisy Earle with the remainder of the three teams a total of 26 players this year filled out with mostly sophomores and juniors.
This year the cheer team is led by seniors Alyssa Aragon and Nayelli Acosta with the remaining 16 filled by seven Eighth graders. This year’s Tigercats Dance team is lead by Seniors Anjelica Lopez and Kaylee Garrett followed by Junior Jasmine Draper and eight eighth graders.
Then came homecoming royalty with the student body voting for Bonnie Gonzales as queen and Dakota Martinez for king.
This afternoon historic First Street was closed down for the Homecoming Parade which included floats from the four classes with the Juniors taking 1st place, Seniors pulling out a 2nd place and the Sophomores coming in third in the voting. Freshmen class picked up a Honorable Mention. The high school band marched and played while both RMS and Varsity cheer performed. The Tigercats also performed with music provided by the car they were following.
Love the Raton spirit! Thank you for posting these photos. Go Tigers!
