Mary Magdelene “Madge” Ash, age 91, died Wednesday, September 23, 2015, in Dalhart, Texas.
Funeral services will be arranged by Richards Funeral Home in New Madrid, Missouri. Burial will follow in the Mounds Park Cemetery in Lilbourn, Missouri. Mary Magdelene “Madge” (Hurley) Ash was born on January 9, 1924 in Portageville, Missouri to Robert Lee Hurley and Bertha Pearl (Babb) Hurley. She married Harold Alexander Ash on February 17, 1940 in Marston, Missouri and he preceded her in death in 1985. Madge graduated from Marston High School in 1941 and was a farm wife picking cotton for many years. She later worked in a high end coat factory sewing on buttons. When the factory closed she went to work in a school cafeteria and then retired in 1986. In addition to her parents and husband, Madge was preceded in death by 2 brothers; Edward Hurley and Dewavion L. Hurley, 1 sister; Virginia Curtis and her son-in-law; F. Allen Carter.

1 DAUGHTER: Shirley (Ash) Carter of Clayton, New Mexico.
1 GRANDDAUGHTER: Christi (Carter) Boyd of Kempner, Texas.
4 GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN: Ashlei Jade Roe, Taylor Brooke Roe, Allison MacKenzie Roe and Samantha Kay Roe.
1 BROTHER: Gary Edward Hurley of Rockford, Illinois.
1 SISTER: Naomi Severson of Williston, North Dakota.
MEMORIALS: The family asks that memorials be made in Madge’s memory to the F. Allen Carter Memorial Scholarship Fund at the Farmers & Stockmans Bank in Clayton.
