TRINIDAD — On August 22nd, the Trinidad Round Up Queen contest was held at the beautiful A.R Mitchell Museum in downtown Trinidad.
Contestants took part in several portions of the contest which included modeling, giving a speech, taking a written test, personal interview with the judges, and riding a reining pattern.
Saturday night, the 2014 Sr. Queen Mikayla Arlint, and Jr. Queen Jackie Jolly, officially crowned the 2015 Sr. Queen Anne Sporleder, and Jr. Queen Micheli Walton, at the rodeo dance at Jujos.
Anne Sporleder is the 17 year old daughter of Eric and Alice Sporleder and currently a senior at Colorado Connections Academy. Micheli Walton is the 11 year daughter of Bob and Melissa Walton, and is in the 5th grade at Branson School Online.
The 2015 Royalty kicked off the beginning of their year long reign at the 105th Annual Trinidad Round Up, with two CPRA rodeo performances featuring the Westernaires, Horsepower is Horsepower Parade, and Queens Luncheon hosted by the 2014 Sr. Queen Mikayla Arlint. They also took part in the nickel scramble, and stick horse race for the kids during the rodeos.
Sr. Queen Anne Sporleder and Jr. Queen Micheli Walton are looking forward to representing and promoting the Trinidad Round Up throughout their year as royalty. Be sure to watch for them in the future, and check out the A.R. Mitchell Museum of Western Art the next time you are in Trinidad.
