Phyllis Titus (March 28, 1927 to August 13, 2015)
Phyllis was born in Boston, Massachusetts. She traveled all over the United States and lived in Florida for many years. Then, during travels to Reno, Nevada with her husband Fred, Phyllis came through Raton. As they drove over the pass, Fred looked out the rearview window, saw the amazing scenery of New Mexico, turned around and came back. They visited Raton and decided this was where they were to settle, because of the wonderful people and scenery.
Phyllis was involved in many things in Raton. She loved to play bingo with her friends at the Parish Hall, the VFW, the Raton Senior Center and at the homes of her many friends. Phyllis and a few of her buddies loved doing Lip Sync for several years.
Phyllis helped to bring the GED testing to Raton and was one of the first to receive her GED at age 79, proving you are never too old to learn. She also helped to push for Raton to come into the 20th Century regarding the ADA accessibility for city and state facilities.
Several years ago, Phyllis moved to San Tan, Arizona to be near her family.
Phyllis was much loved by all who knew her.
A memorial service is being planned and will be announced at a later date.
