Trinidad Voted one of the top ten most beautiful cities in Colorado by a national architecture website

WJ 250x55TRINIDAD– Earlier this summer, the city of Trinidad was named among Colorado’s Top 10 most eye-appealing places by TheCultureTrip.com website.
The Culture Trip is a one stop website for the best of America’s art, design, culture, travel and more.  The website ranks cities and towns throughout the United States for beauty and livability.
One reason Trinidad was chosen was because of a recent announcement by Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper, naming Trinidad as the first-of-its-kind housing project for artists, as part of the Colorado Creative District (see related story, page 12.)
“If you look at the list of places the Culture Trip chose, a lot of them are creative districts.  Trinidad stands out because it is a national historic district as well as a Colorado Creative District,” director of development services for Trinidad, Tara Dawn Marshall said.
“We’ve got one of the largest inventory of historic buildings per capita in the West,” she added.
The Culture Trip describes Trinidad as a historic charmer, and notes Trinidad was picked because it is ‘designated as a Colorado Creative District due to its vibrant art scene as the area has attracted talent, including plein-air artists, for years.  Beauty abounds everywhere from the downtown area featuring brick-lined streets and stunning Victorian buildings to the great outdoors.’
The website listed Trinidad’s “must-visit places,” including the A.R. Mitchell Museum, which displays over 350 paintings by Western artists plus Spanish colonial folk art and photographs, and the Trinidad History Museum, which includes the breathtaking Bloom Mansion.
