Commercial Street: open for business

by Joy Gipson

WJ 250x55TRINIDAD — Part of North Commercial Street in Trinidad may be inaccessible, but the businesses on those blocks are still open and the parking situation is not as bad as it may look.
Parking is available on the Commercial Street Bridge which gives access to all of the businesses on both sides of the street.  There is additional parking for businesses, on the west side of the construction area on Cedar.  You will also find access to off-street parking when you drive behind Aultman Hall and Cedar Street Printing where there is a large parking area.  Some of the businesses actually have a back entrance.
Double D’s Grill (previously Bueno’s) at 443 N. Commercial Street is now under new ownership and management.  It has easy access entries in the front and in the back.  They are open seven days a week from 6 am to 10 pm, serving breakfast all day on Saturday and Sunday.  New owners Samantha and Shantell Quintana plan to offer delivery service in the near future.  Call 719-422-8363 for more information.
Cedar Street Printing and Mail Store at 123 Cedar  has plenty of parking in front and back, making it convenient even if you want to quickly pop in and use their copy machine.  They are open Monday through Friday 8-5.
Don’t forget about Cafe What a Grind, a premium bistro and full bar, and smoker friendly at the corner of Commercial and Cedar.  They are open and maintaining their usual business hours.  Pro Rehabilitation center and gym is open during their regular business hours and there is an entrance to their parking lot on Cedar.
AroundUs Corporation, run by Jay Martinez at 429 N. Commercial Street, #B, is limiting hours at that location and can be contacted at 719-433-9364 for an appointment.  His company created the colorful and eye catching signs on the front of M+M Distributing’s building across the street from their office.  The M+M store is open as usual and so is Comcast located next to it.
Sorry ladies, Curves Fitness Center is open as usual so you can’t use the street construction for a reason to skip workout sessions.  Just consider having to walk a few extra steps to get there as part of your warm-up routine.
Be curious.  Come down to Cedar Street or the Commercial Street Bridge on the north end of the construction and see how our new street project is progressing.  Walk on the new sidewalks and check out the businesses.  They are staying positive as they struggle through this challenging transition. Please give them your support.
