Colfax County Fair Royalty for 2015

SPRINGER — The Colfax County Fair & Rodeo Queen Contest began Monday evening, August 3, 2015 at the Maxwell Auditorium, with the Modeling & Interview portion of the contest.  The Horsemanship Competition took place Tuesday morning, August 4.
The reigning royalty and contestants assisted with the horse show on Wednesday, August 5th, and will assist with the swine show on Thursday, August 6th and the other livestock contests taking place on Friday, August 7th.  They will ride in the rodeo grand entry at 7 pm Friday, and will also ride in the parade Saturday at 11 am, and the rodeo grand entry at 1 pm.  The coronation of the new queens will be after the grand entry on Saturday.
The reigning Colfax County royalty are as follows:
The 2014-2015 Colfax County Fair &  Rodeo Queen is Jessica Pittman.  
She is the 18 year old daughter of  Marlene and Jerry Pittman, and the granddaughter of Judy and Dave Hughes.  Jessica grew up in Cimarron and graduated from Cimarron High School where she was an honor student and top athlete, winning numerous district and state awards.  As Queen, she has assisted in the fair stock dog trials, worked at several fundraisers, handed out awards at the 4-H Banquet, and rode in many local rodeos and parades. Most recently, Jessica represented CCFA at the Riding on Faith bull riders camp in Maxwell, where she had a faith building experience.  She will be attending West Texas A&M, majoring in agricultural communications.  Jessica has done an excellent job representing the Colfax County Fair & Rodeo, and we wish her the best of luck in her future pursuits.
The 2014-2015 Colfax County Fair & Rodeo Jr Queen is Jaidyn Swartz.  
She is 15 years old and the daughter of Joy and John Weisdorfer.  During the Queen Competition she was also awarded the titles of Miss Horsemanship, Miss Photogenic, and Miss Congeniality.  Jaidyn has had a great time representing the Colfax County Fair & Rodeo at events such as the Country Showdown at the Shuler Theater, the Raton Rodeo, the Cimarron Maverick 4th of July Rodeo and parade and other community events.  She has enjoyed helping local non-profits, therapeutic riding programs and fundraisers. Jaidyn is an honor student at Springer High School and is an active member of the National Jr. Honor Society, 4-H and FFA.  Jaidyn enjoys riding her horse, raising show pigs, hunting, and playing sports.  Jaidyn has been a valuable member of the Colfax County Fair & Rodeo Royalty Team.

She is 11 years old and the daughter of John and Joy Weisdorfer.  Shiann has had a lot of fun as the Princess working with Jessica and Jaidyn at many community events like rodeos, parades, fund raisers and award ceremonies.  One of her favorite events was the Country Showdown at the Shuler Theater.  She has had a busy year with the Queen’s Team.  Shiann is in the 6th grade and hopes to play Jr High Volleyball and Basketball. She is active in 4-H and enjoys riding and showing her horse, raising show pigs, playing sports and hunting.  She plans to continue competing for Fair & Rodeo Queen titles.  Shiann has done a wonderful job representing Colfax County as the Fair & Rodeo Princess.

The Queen Contestant this year is Erin Arko, the 23 year old daughter of  Leo and Barbara Arko of Maxwell and Eagle Nest.  Erin is no stranger to the Queen’s Pageant or 4-H; she has held several royalty titles for the Colfax County Fair & Rodeo and took on numerous 4-H projects each year.  Even though she is too old to compete in the youth contests, she finds a way to be involved in the fair by volunteering.  Her passion for 4-H carried on through college where she helped re-establish the collegiate 4-H Club.  Erin is a recent graduate of New Mexico State University where she majored in animal science with an equine emphasis.  Erin’s long time goal is to be the New Mexico State Fair Queen and winning the County title will bring her one step closer in accomplishing this goal.
This year’s Jr Queen Contestant Karissa Crosswhite, the 15 year old daughter of Myrna Crosswhite and Carl Crosswhite, and the granddaughter of Edward and Celia Olona and Jack and Maria Crosswhite.  Karissa has grown up in Springer and will be in the 10th grade at Springer High School.  She participates in cheer, 4-H and FFA.  Karissa shows lambs in 4-H and also participates in photography and scrapbooking.  She enjoys hunting, fishing, drawing, traveling, spending time with her friends and family, and riding her horse.  Karissa was the 2014-2015 Cimarron Maverick Rodeo Queen and had a great experience representing the Maverick Rodeo.
The 2015-2016 Princess Contestant, (and last year’s reigning princess) is Springer area resident Shiann Weisdorfer.  She is an honor student entering the 6th grade at Springer Schools. Shiann likes spending time with her friends, playing basketball, riding her horse, swimming, and hunting.  She is active in 4-H and is the Reporter and County Council Delegate for Vermejo 4-H Club.  Shiann shows market swine in the Colfax County Fair and her indoor project exhibits include the horse project, braiding, leather craft, wood working and photography.  Shiann enjoys being active and doing all she can to help others.  She is competing for her second title of Colfax County Fair & Rodeo Princess.
