Roger H. Marquez age 75 passed away July 20, 2015 in Pueblo, Colorado. He was born September 25, 1939 in Raton, NM the son of Manuel and Anita McClelland Marquez. He was a resident of Raton and a member of St. Patrick-St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter June Marquez, sisters Doris Marquez, Margie Marquez and Josephine Prado, and brother John Marquez.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years Stella Marquez of Raton, daughters Debbie Quintana and companion Brad Barnes of Raton, Patricia and husband Everett Butch of Raton, sons Jose Martinez and companion Donna Fernandez and ex-wife Marie Martinez of Raton, Ralph and wife Paula Martinez of Monte Vista, CO, Larry Marquez of Raton, Ernesto and wife Mary Marquez of Raton, brother Ernie and wife Dodi Marquez of San Leandro, CA, 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Roger was well loved by all who knew him. He was an avid fisherman who loved to play pool. Everyone knew him as Doomie Marquez. Doomie was a diehard Oakland Raider fan. His favorite lines were “Doomie, Do me a favor and get me a beer,” “Are you on it?” and “Who dun it”. He loved to play bones also known as dominoes and enjoyed listening to his blues music. He bought such joy to our lives and everyone he touched. There will never be another Doomie.
Visitation for Roger H. Marquez will take place Thursday July 23rd from 4:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at the Alderette-Pomeroy Funeral Home Chapel. Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary will be held Friday July 24th at 9:00 a.m. at St. Patrick-St. Joseph’s Catholic Church recited by Deacon Thomas Alderette. Solemn Mass of the Resurrection will take place at 9:30 a.m. with Father John Trambley as the celebrant. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Funeral arrangements for Roger H. Marquez are under the direction of the Alderette-Pomeroy Funeral Home of Raton.
