Lena Sciacca, age 93, passed away July 19, 2015, at Life Care Center in Colorado Springs.
She was born August 27, 1921, in Black Hills, CO to Ignacio and Domenica Febbraro. Lena attended the Barns School, east of Ludlow, CO. She married Pete Sciacca October 31, 1937. They were married for 66 years until he passed away in 2003.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers and sisters-in-law, Joseph (Roma) Febbraro, Charlie (Elsie) Febbraro, Nick (Catherine) Febbraro, sisters and brothers-in-law, Lilly (Tony) Frenchmore, Ann (Albert) Salbato, sisters Patty Novara and little Mary Febbraro, brother little Joe Febbraro, special niece Joanne Kruitz.
Lena is survived by her sister and best friend Angie Sciacca of Ludlow, brother-in-law Willard Large, her five children, Jeannette Sciacca of Denver, Frank (Karen) Sciacca of Pagosa Springs, Carl (Gwen) Sciacca of Aguilar, Carol Tokar of Pueblo, Valerie Chavez of Fountain, and “adopted daughter” Linda Young of Colorado Springs; grandchildren, Michael (Lee) Sciacca, Tamara Sciacca, Stacey (Jack) Wiseman, Kerry (Rob) Campbell, Amanda (Derek) Grubb, Stephanie (Joshua) Cruz; great grandchildren, Tanner Bacharach, Tatum Rivera, Pete and Jack Grubb, numerous nieces and nephews, special people in her life, Bill Wood, Dave Velasquez, Dixie Sciacca, Anthony Chavez, Jim Tokar, George Lave, Joe Barajas.
Lena worked as a homemaker, helping on the ranch with her husband Pete, and later opened her own successful business, Lena’s Hardware & Variety. Special thanks to Kerry Campbell, Stacey Wiseman, and Dixie Sciacca. With their help, Lena was able to live in the family home until recently.
The family also extends its appreciation to the staff at Life Care Center and to Dr. Mike Moll for Lena’s care.
Visitation will be Thursday, July 23, from 4-8 P.M., at Comi Funeral Home Chapel in Trinidad; Rosary will be at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Aguilar, Friday, July 24, 9:30 A.M., followed by the Funeral Mass at 10:00 A.M. with interment at the Trinidad Catholic Cemetery.
