Ernest H. Herrera, passed away at the Trinidad Inn Nursing Home on June 21, 2015 at the age of 86.
He was born in Trinchera, Colorado on February 8, 1929, the son of Julia (Sandoval) and Nefe Herrera.
On August 22, 1953, Ernest was united in marriage to Rachel Mary Tafoya.
He was employed by the City of Trinidad as an operator at the City of Trinidad Municipal Power Plant until his retirement.
In his younger years, Ernest had a passion for playing pool and dice.
He enjoyed gambling and traveling to Cripple Creek.
Ernest was an avid Denver Bronco and Colorado Rockies fan,
He was faithful attending his children and grandchildren sport and dance activities. He loved spending quality time with his family at their gatherings and holidays.
Preceding him in death are parents, Nefe and Julia, beloved wife Rachel, son Glenn and brother Joseph Herrera.
He is survived by sons, Cordell (Margie) Herrera, ,Trinidad, Ernie (Tammy) Herrera, Lipsic, Ohio, daughter, Lori Lawrence, Roy, Utah, grandchildren, Heather Coberly, Justin (Stephanie) Herrera, Chance Lawrence, great granddaughters Sydney Coberly, Brookelyn Coberly, , great grandsons, Jayden Herrera, Bryson Herrera, sisters Virginia Sanchez, Lucille (Charles) Salas, Ruby (John) Santistevan, brother Lawrence Herrera, several sisters and brothers in law, nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
Memorial Services will be held Monday June 29, 2015 at 10AM at First Christian Church with Pastor Cary Nelson officiating.
Inurnment will follow at the Trinidad Masonic Cemetery.
