Octaviano (Tave) Martinez
Octaviano Martinez, age 83, of Springer (formerly of Rainsville, NM) passed away on Thursday, June 4, 2015 surrounded by his family. Tave was the youngest of five children born to Jose & Pablita (Mora) Martinez on December 24, 1931 in Rainsville, NM.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Ben and Frank, sisters Escolastica and Luz, an infant brother and grandson, Thomas Sedillo, Jr.
Surviving family include his wife, Joy of the family home in Springer, son Toby (Tina) Martinez of Springer, daughters Donna Sedillo of Springer, Cora (Rick) Ortiz of Raton, Norma Vigil of Springer, Theresa Vigil (Chris) of Springer and son-in-law Mark Kear of Santa Fe. He is also survived by his nephew Joe (Maria) Martinez of Las Vegas, NV, who was raised as his brother.
Grandchildren: Tanya, Kateri, Richard, Amber, Jesse, Brandon, Grady and Ryan.
Great-Grandchildren: Destinee, Isaiah, Alexi, Kiara, Paige, Dominic, Devin, Adan, Zedekiah and Fabion.
Numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and many dear friends that he carried very close to his heart.
Services for Octaviano Martinez will be held on Monday, June 8th at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Springer. Rosary will be recited at 10:00am by Nasario Montoya. Solemn Mass of the Resurrection to follow at 10:30am with Father Emmanuel Izuka as the celebrant. Burial will be at Springer Cemetery with reception to follow at St. Joseph’s Parish Hall.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Alderette-Pomeroy Funeral Home of Raton.
