In Loving Memory of Antonia Apodaca

Antonia Apodaca age 102 passed away June 1, 2015 in Raton, New Mexico. She was born April 6, 1912 the daughter of Pedro and Emelia (Mondragon) Hurtado. She was a resident of Springer, New Mexico and a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. 

She is preceded in death her parents, daughters Dora Pineda and Maria O. Gabbert, sons Anselmo Apodaca, Roger Apodaca and a twin brother to John, sisters Amada Delgado, Melecia Vigil, and Cleofis Avila, brothers Onesimo Hurtado and Jose Hurtado. 

She is survived by her daughter Juanita Mares and husband Gilbert of Springer, NM, Margaret Esquibel and husband Justin of Springer, NM, son John J. Apodaca of Springer, sister Josephine Bustos of Albuquerque, NM, brother Pete Hurtado of Denver, CO, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great-grandchildren and 26 godchildren. 

Marcella a granddaughter who was raised by Antonia was Antonia’s caregiver for over ten years. Marcella loved her grandmother dearly and will miss her very much. 

Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary will take place Friday June 5th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Springer. Mass of the Resurrection will follow at 10:30 a.m. with Father Emmanuel Izuka as the celebrant. Rite of committal and interment will take place at the Springer Cemetery. Funeral arrangements for Antonia Apodaca are under the direction of the Alderette-Pomeroy Funeral Home of Raton.
