It was one of those games that the Lady Panthers will want to forget as the Lady Tigers showed the home town crowd that they are a force to be reckoned with in District 5AAA and added to their winning streak with 10 wins.
The Lady Tigers started the game a bit slow only getting two runners across home plate in the first inning but the defense held on strong not allowing Pecos to score in the shortened three inning game.
While the Pecos pitcher was throwing balls Raton’s Natasha Archuleta was posting strikeouts. Raton scored runs off of walks in the second inning before the bats came alive in the third. After two innings the girls were up by only 4-0. They rallied in the third and put 11 girls across home plate to end the game with the 15 run mercy rule 15-0.
Coach Tina Dorrance told KRTN she was pleased with the girls performance on the road last week as they tallied up three wins from Gallup to Estancia Friday and Saturday. The girls are on a role but haven’t seen a lot of competition in class AAA. The girls will continue their district play against Tucumcari Thursday and NACA in Raton on Saturday for another double header.
