– The baseball game with St Mike’s on Tuesday, March 11 at Gabriele Field started out looking grim with bases loaded walks giving St. Mikes the early lead. But Raton kept pecking away at their long-time nemesis and eventually pulled out the win despite a seventh inning rally by St. Mikes that almost tied the game.
Raton fell behind as St Mikes players rounded the bases on walks instead of hits as Pitcher Ethan Washburn struggled at first. The third inning however saw a spark in the Tigers as the bats began to connect and Raton base runners rounded third for home. Raton took the lead with a four run rally in the third.
Raton added to the score with two more runs in the fourth and fifth innings making it a 9-4 ball game. Things were looking good until the seventh inning when St Mikes came rumbling back but could only manage to bat in four runs before Jonathan Cabrieles managed to put it away with a final score of 9-8.
