Lucile (Thomas) Reif, age 97, died Tuesday, March 3, 2015 in Clayton, New Mexico.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at the First United Methodist Church in Clayton, New Mexico with Rev. Terrell Jones, pastor of the Trinity Fellowship Church in Clayton, Officiating. Burial will follow in the Clayton Memorial Cemetery by Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton.
Lucille (Thomas) Reif was born on May 4, 1917 on the family homestead between Folsom and Des Moines to John D. Thomas and S. Vinette (Manley) Reif. She graduated from Des Moines High School and attended Hardin Simmons University in Abilene, Texas for a year and then transferred to New Mexico Highlands University where she earned her Bachelors Degree in Education. Lucille started teaching after her first year of college at Willow Springs School in 1937. She later taught school in Farley, McAlister, Endee, Folsom and Des Moines before teaching in Clayton where she taught for several years and retired in May of 1978. Lucille married David Reif in Las Vegas, New Mexico on October 30, 1937 and he preceded her in death on February 12, 2010. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Clayton.
