Joe Abel Madrid age 88 passed away at his home in Raton on Saturday February 7, 2015. He was born on July 24, 1926 to Juan and Seruanda Blea Madrid in Pasamonte, New Mexico.
Abel is survived by his wife Irene of the family home, daughters: Lisa Madrid of Albuquerque, Susan Madrid and Lucille Madrid both of Raton, sons: David Madrid of Albuquerque, and Andrew Madrid of Raton, sister Barbarita Madrid of Albuquerque and brother Billy Madrid (Marcella) of Clayton, NM. 15 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren, friends, and family also survive.
Abel was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He loved to work in his yard and worked hard as a cook for the Melody Lane and Senior Citizens center. Abel will be sorely missed by his wife and family.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday February 11, 2015 in the chapel of the Alderette Pomeroy Funeral Home from 2pm to 4pm. Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary will be on Thursday February 12, 2015 at 9:30am at the St. Patrick/St. Joseph’s Catholic Church recited by Deacon Thomas Alderette. Solemn Mass of the Resurrection will follow at 10am with Fr. John Trambley as the celebrant. Rite of Committal and Interment will take place at the Fairmont Cemetery. A dinner will follow the service at the parish hall.
