Pioneer Natural Resources presents KRTN’s Super Star of Business for February:
Huerfano World Journal.
Gretchen Sporleder Orr, publisher and editor of Huerfano World Journal, was our guest at the KRTN studios on February 5, 2015 for our “Super Stars of Business”.
Huerfano World can trace its origins to the first issue of the Huerfano Cactus which was published in 1883. The newspaper went through several changes over the next 130 years and eventually became the Huerfano World Journal.
After perusing the February 5, 2015 edition of Gretchen’s stellar newspaper, the KRTN staff became even more enthusiastic about the new media partnership of KRTN Radio and Huerfano World. The Walsenburg-based newspaper is preparing to launch its partnership with KRTN Radio to “extend the news and marketing reach to all three counties of Huerfano, Las Animas and Colfax.”
Bill Donati, Owner and General Manager of KRTN, expressed his optimism in launching the media collaboration of radio and print, “There is always strength in numbers. And sharing media information is a good sign of bringing our areas together culturally and businesswise.” Bill and Gretchen agreed that local newspapers and radio stations build communities and senses of region identity. KRTN and Huerfano World are ready to launch a shared promotion of the “World Class” regions of Northeastern New Mexico and Southeastern Colorado.
Gretchen added, “Huerfano World is very excited about expanding our readership and marketing base through our media association with KRTN Radio. Both our readership and local area businesses will now have a stronger platform to market their services.”
Alan Kenny, Assistant Manager/Sales Manager of KRTN, has agreed to assist Huerfano World in the launch of operations in both Las Animas and Colfax Counties. Alan is well-known in Colorado for his newspaper expertise in growing businesses to their most profitable potential.
A launch date will be announced in the near future, and it is hoped that all will realize the importance of this media association, as far as an expansion of services.
After the program aired and before the day was over, we had heard from several Raton businesses that Gretchen had already visited them. The local business owners echoed the sentiments of the KRTN staff: Gretchen is an impressive, energetic and knowledgeable businesswoman.
