Estella Pena age 90, of Springer, NM, passed away Sunday January 25, 2015 in Raton. She was born November 25, 1924 in Taos, NM, the daughter of Jose F. and Juanita Martinez-Montoya. Estella was a cook for the Public School System and was a member of the Lutheran Church in Springer. She loved baking, bingo, sewing and was very active at the senior citizens center.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Jack Pena Sr., family members, Ralph Montoya, Gilbert and Lily Montoya, Fred Montoya, Rubin and Crucita Vigil, Joe and Ursula Montoya, Eipil Montoya Valentino and Mary Pena, John and Connie Ibanez, Carlos and Carol Pena, Eugene Zane, Gertie Pena, Mary and George Jansen and numerous relatives and friends. She is survived by two sons, Jack Pena Jr. and Felix Pena and wife Annabel all of Springer, family members, Julia Zane, Prisalla Montoya of Oakland, CA., Cidelia Montoya of Albuquerque, NM, and Dolores Montoya of Taos, NM. grandchildren Christopher Pena and Ryan Pena great grandchildren Christina Pena and Natale Pena and numerous friends and family.
The love and care given to our mother, by the doctors, nurses, nurses aids, and the cafeteria workers at the Miners’ Colfax Medical Center are much appreciated by Estella and her sons. God Bless everyone.
Visitation will be Friday January 30, 2015 from 9:00 A.M. until 10:00 A.M. at the First United Methodist Church in Springer, funeral service will follow at 10:00 A.M. with Rev. Phil Quarles officiating. Burial will be in the Fairmont Cemetery in Raton.
