Alice Romero
(December 15, 1924 – November 11, 2014)
Alice was a member of the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Springer. She love to crochet and cook and was well known for her tamales, Mexican hotdogs, and turnovers. Alice ran the youth center in Springer and cooked pizzas for everyone. She also cooked at the Springer Schools and Springer House. She was a foster grandparent for the elementary school and a daycare aide at Springer schools as well. She also loved to hold weekly bible studies in her home.
Alice is preceded in death by her parents, husband Phil Romero, sons: Phil Romero, and Rick Romero, sisters: Tonita Aguilar and Josie Garza, brothers: Louie Gutierrez, Gilbert Gutierrez, and Arthur Gutierrez, sisters-in-law: Valentina and Martha Gutierrez. Alice is survived by her daughter Kathy Trujillo and husband Ted of Pueblo, CO; son Charles Ray Romero of Springer, NM; sister Lucy Trujillo and husband Floyd of Amalia, NM; brothers: Carlos Gutierrez, Con Gutierrez and wife Lucille of Springer, NM; and sisters-in-law: Annie Gutierrez of Colorado Springer, Co; and Rosalie Gutierrez of Albuquerque, NM. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Zmily of La Familia Family Practice, the hospices nurses, Lena Turner and all her special friends. Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary will be held on Saturday November 22, 2014 at 10:30am at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Springer, NM followed by the Memorial Mass at 11:00am with Father Emmanuel Izuka as the Celebrant. Inurnment to take place at a later date. Arrangements for Alice Romero are under the direction of the Alderette Pomeroy Funeral Home of Raton.
