John W. Dochter passed away on November 11, 2014 at the age of 94.
John was born on the Apishapa, in the family cabin above Herlyck (Herlic) Canyon, to Ray C. and Magaret C. (Herlyck) Dochter.
John was the youngest of 6 children, who predeceased him. They are Margaret (John) Hoover, Raymond R. Dochter, Olive (Victor) Vining, Myrtle (Floyd) Barry, Fred (Margaret) Dochter , nephews Raymond Dochter and Richard Dochter.
He attended Aguilar schools, graduating in 1939. John was an honorably discharged veteran of WWII and in 1946, he returned to the family farm in Aguilar where he lived and worked until the age of 82. At that time he became a resident of the Colorado State Veterans Nursing Home in Walsenburg, Co, where he resided until his death on Veterans Day, 2014.
John is survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, among them are Florine (Roger) Huffenberger, Antis Goodulin, Claude (Carol) Vining, Kathleen (Dave) Ratliff, Susan Alston, Ken (Beth) Dochter, and Mike (Jean) Dochter.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, November 21. 2014 at 1PM at the Comi Chapel with Pastor Cary Nelson officiating.Inurnment will follow at the Trinidad Masonic Cemetery.
