In Loving Memory of Christina E. Duran

Christina E. Duran, age 78, passed away at home with her family by her side on October 29, 2014. 

Mrs. Duran was born on January 12, 1936 in Trinidad, Colorado to Agnes Murillo and Luciano Tafoya but she was raised by her mother and grandfather, Rafael Ojeda.   

Although she attended school locally, her education was cut short in the tenth grade when she quit to go to work to help out with the familial expenses.  She lived most of her life in Trinidad, Colorado, mainly, to be close to her mother and grandfather and took care of them until their passing.  She was a loving, supportive and faithful wife to Charles A. Duran for 56 years unto death. 

She enjoyed music, crafts, outings, reading, gardening and her pets. She loved her family very much but was kind and generous to everyone she met.  She will be greatly missed by many people. 

Christina was preceded in death by her mother, Agnes Murillo; grandfather, Rafael Ojeda; and sister, Agnes Ortiz. 

Christina is survived by her husband, Charles A. Duran; her three children: Rueben Duran, Patricia (Frank) Gonzales and Jacqueline (Mark) Lynn; five grandchildren: Charlie Duran, Frankie (Christie) Gonzales, Rachel Gonzales, Christina Lynn,Kristal Lynn and eight great grandchildren.   

She is, also, survived by one brother and sister-in-law, Gilbert and Shirley Rios, Denver, Colorado; four sisters: Dolores Trujillo, Denver, Colorado; Josephine Munoz, Trinidad, Colorado; Linda Acosta, Pueblo, Colorado and Olga Ollis, Denver, Colorado and numerous nieces and nephews.  

A Rosary Service will be held Thursday, November 6, 2014, at 7 PM at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. 

Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, November 7 2014, at 1PM, at  Holy Trinity Catholic Church.  

The family respectfully requests that they be allowed privacy for her inurnment at the Trinidad Catholic Cemetery. 

Details of a gathering will be announced at the funeral services.
