Walter Eugene Hazen, born September 8, 1935 in Biggsville, Illinois, to Doris and Leo Hazen, flew to his Heavenly Father , October 15, 2014.
He has be reunited with his parents and son Jim.
Walter married Norine Beresford, April 12, 1983 in Trinidad, CO, merging families. Between the merger there are 15 children, 17 grandchildren , 8 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. He is survived by his wife Norine, Trinidad, son Tim of Rock Island, IL ,son Joe (Lolli), of Davenport, IA, son Rondol of Galesburg, IL, daughter Sherry Marie, of Dehinda, IL, step son Charles (Thulie) Beresford, Summerville, SC, step daughter Sherri Lynne (Mark) Chainuck, Plainfield, IL, and step son Douglas GI (Marci) Hazen, Bloomington, IL. He was also American Dad to 5 daughters from Kenya.
Walter was a Captain in the National Guard, a private pilot, motorcyclist, hunter, ham radio operator and owner of Advance Professional Services, carpet cleaner in Trinidad. He was an avid member of Zion’s Lutheran Church in Trinidad, and Trinidad Lions Club .
He received the Pelican Award from the Catholic Church for his outstanding youth leadership.
He was also a Girl Scout leader for 15 years.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, November 1, 2014 at 11AM at Zion’s Lutheran Church with Pastor Andrea Doden officiating.
A condolence meal will follow at the Fellowship Hall.
