PORTALES–Eastern New Mexico University in Portales received the “Above and Beyond Award” and two employees received “Service Member Patriot Awards” on Thursday from Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR).
In the ceremony in the Campus Union Building, ENMU employees Brad Kemper, director of purchasing, and Patricia Holbrook, buyer in purchasing, received “Service Member Patriot Awards” for their support and flexibility in working with members of the National Guard or Reserve.
They were nominated by ENMU student employees and Guard members Justin Silva, Jackson Bickel and David Rossen.
ENMU received the “Above and Beyond Award” as an employer going above and beyond the legal requirements of the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act by providing their Guard and Reserve employees additional, non-mandated benefits.
Steven Gamble, ENMU president, accepted the award from ESGR representatives John Montano and Raymond Mondragon.
