Its full on district time and Raton hosted the Lady Lions from Santa Rosa Tuesday afternoon with the JV girls pulling a win out of the hat while the Varsity fell short.
The Lady Tigers took off on the first game with Natasha Ortega going up with six serves for points before Santa Rosa ended the streak. Raton however went on and never looked back and that was the same for game two as Raton took the lead with Camryn Mileta serving up seven points. When it was all said and done the JV girls came out of the match with a 2-0 win for their efforts.
The varsity girls simply couldn’t get things to click for them in either of the first two games. The girls had problems with passes while a lack of communication worked against them. The girls got in each others way and missed the passes they needed to keep it in play. In game three the girls kept up with the Lady Lions for the first few points even keeping it tied before things fell apart and the Lady Lions took off and went on for the win. The Lady Lions were very vocal and worked the ball for the hit and several times landed it in an open part of the court.
The Lady Tigers will continue district play on Thursday against the Lady Rattlers from Tucumcari with the first serve at 4:30.
