Edmund Arthur Luksich, age 67, of Miami, NM passed away Sunday, October 5, 2014 in Miami.
He was born May 21, 1947 in Raton, NM. Ed graduated from Raton High School in 1965 and joined the National Guard. Upon finishing his term, he learned how to run heavy equipment. He helped build Interstate-25, the Trinidad Lake Dam, and other large construction jobs throughout Colfax County with the Soil Conservation Service. When he was 23, he shifted gears and purchased land with his wife, Ruth, in Miami, N.M. and began farming hay at the base of Miami Mesa. For more than 40 years, Ed farmed and ranched throughout central and northeastern New Mexico.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Margret “Peggy” Kendrick and his father, Charles Luksich.
Survivors include a son, Travis and his wife, Debra Luksich of Miami, N.M.; two daughters: Tracy and her husband James Moore of Lubbock, T.X. and Tammy Luksich of Rio Rancho, N.M. He is also survived by five grandchildren: Chase Moore, Austin Luksich, Tyler Luksich, Jaycie Moore, and Devin Moore, as well as stepfather, Wes Kendrick of Raton, N.M., former wife, Ruth Luksich of Raton, N.M. His five siblings include: Ricky Freeman of Graham, T.X., Gerald Luksich of Las Vegas, N.M, Margaret Owens of Raton, N.M, Susan Butt of Raton, N.M., and Wesley Kendrick of Raton, N.M. and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service for Ed Luksich will be held Friday, October 10th at 10:00 am at Yaksich-Long Funeral home in Raton.
