Raton played a tough match with Espanola Valley Saturday afternoon in Tiger Gym as the varsity stayed close in the first three games of the match.
Both teams kept it close with tie games, for JV it was the second game and varsity held on in both the second and third games taking them into overtime. The girls started game one a bit slow with several mistakes but returned to strong play by the end of the game.
Coach Johnson said the team had been working on their hits and passes as well as blocks at the net. The work showed as Alina Pillmore and Kristina Jansen made several blocks at the net. The girls also had several long volleys during the match which made for some exciting volleyball.
The Ladies will be on the road this week and will return home on Friday against La Veta with game time rescheduled for 3:00 p.m. in an attempt to finish up before the Raton McCurdy football game at 7:00.
