It was a tough night for the Raton teams Tuesday as they hosted the West Las Vegas Lady Dons in a non-district game.
The C-team girls, both Raton and West had rotation issues during both games which seemed to cause some confusion for the girls yet West managed to gain a lead and hold on to it.
During the JV game the Raton girls put on a good show but fell short in both games. Ivy Fernandez had a good round of serves to keep game-1 close. But it was solid play that kept Raton close to West.
During the varsity games Raton simply couldn’t make things work. The girls were miss handling the serves with several balls glancing off their arms or fists as they went for the pass. Other times they simply couldn’t make their passes or get the set setup right. While West had their own problems they made fewer mistakes in game-1 but simply blew away Raton in the other two games.
Raton will host Espanola Valley Saturday afternoon with the c-team games scheduled to start at 2:00 p.m.
