It was another picture perfect weather day in Raton for flying hot air balloons as pilots lifted off the La Mesa airfield once again Saturday morning.
The Kiwanas fed about 350 people for the first day of ballooning, yet today’s crowd was a bit smaller it was greeted with a partly cloudy sky to add a little dramatic license to the air.
Tom Gardner tethered his balloon today and gave kids of all ages a short little ride up and down in his balloon. First timers and the younger folk were often heard to say “that was fun!!”
Many of the balloons made the trip off the field in a southerly direction then headed up to move in a northerly direction with many balloons making it into north Raton.
