The Raton Schools announced that the district has hired Duncan R. Ware as the new Raton High School principal.
Ware was one of eight finalists interviewed by the School Board, Supt. Dr. Neil Terhune and a citizens committee of seven residents of the school district. Terhune said Ware was “clearly the top one interviewed” and will join the staff on July 28th.
Ware comes back to New Mexico after starting his educational career in Floyd and Clovis, NM. He then went on to principal positions in West Memphis, Arkansas and Memphis, TN. Most recently, since July of 2010, Ware was Supt. of the Delta/ Greely School District in Delta Junction, Alaska with an enrollment of 840 and an annual budget of $12 million.
According to Terhune, Ware has six children and has agreed to commit to the Raton position for at least three years.
