Colfax County DWI Program Receives a $10,000.00 Good Neighbor Grant®
Raton, New Mexico, (May 30, 2014) –State Farm® Good Neighbor Grant, is pleased to announce a $10,000.00 grant award to Colfax County DWI, supporting their Protecting You Protecting Me (PYPM) teen driver safety program.
PYPM is a science-based model program that teaches students k-5 how to prevent injury and death due to underage alcohol consumption, vehicle related risks (including DWI), brain injury & other related issues pertaining to protecting oneself from bad choices. Activities include set curriculum which is tied in to existing school curriculum. It includes lecture, hands on learning, presentations that are fun and encourage interaction from the students.
State Farm has supported this program since 2005 and to-date, they have received $60,500 in funding support. “Keeping our community safe on the road is one of the leading public health concerns and State Farm recognizes this is a winnable battle,” said State Farm Agent, Jose Archuleta. “We are firmly committed to raise awareness and saving lives, and we are grateful to have Colfax County DWI Program as a partner in this effort.”
In addition, the Colfax County DWI program provides activities that address the issues of underage drinking, they include media literacy, alcohol and athletes and one time dosage programs aimed at high use frequency events such as the holidays, graduation, prom and homecoming. Their goal is to educate and raise awareness of the dangers of underage drinking and driving while intoxicated.
