STRONG TO SEVERE STORMS IMPACTED MUCH OF EASTERN NEW MEXICO FRIDAY
AFTERNOON. SOME STRONG STORMS PRODUCED TORNADIC ACTIVITY ACROSS
UNION…COLFAX…CURRY…AND ROOSEVELT COUNTIES. SEVERAL POWER POLES WERE
BLOWN OVER NEAR ABBOTT AND NEAR COLFAX. A BARN REPORTEDLY WAS
BLOWN OVER, BUT NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED.
A TORNADO TOUCHED DOWN JUST EAST OF TRINIDAD ABOUT 4:30 PM
WITH OTHER FUNNELS REPORTED NEAR CAPULIN, SOFIA AND NEAR ROY..
MULTIPLE REPORTS OF PEA TO GOLF BALL SIZE HAIL AND ONE REPORT OF TENNIS
BALL HAIL NEAR MAXWELL AND BASEBALL SIZE NEAR WAGON MOUND FROM
STRONGER STORMS THROUGHOUT THE AREA.
TRAFFIC FLOW HALTED FOR SEVERAL MINUTES ON THE RATON PASS AND NEAR
WAGON MOUND ON I-25 BECAUSE OF THE HAIL. COPIOUS AMOUNTS OF MOISTURE
INCLUDED 2 INCHES AT LAKE MALOYA AND OVER TWO INCHES WEST OF MAXWELL.
