Erma S. Montoya age 89 of Raton passed away on May 12th 2014 in Clayton, New Mexico. She was born on April 21st 1925 in Miera, NM to Santiago and Teresita Sanchez.
Erma loved to fish and baked the best bread in the world. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years Archie Montoya, two sisters and one brother. Archie and Erma had no children but raised a niece Junella Montoya. She is also survived by sister Bernice Padilla of Denver, Colorado; nieces Angela Trujillo of Eagle, Colorado; and Cindy Trujillo of Clayton, New Mexico; nephews Thomas Montoya of Huntington Beach, California; Chris Montoya of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and Richard Montoya of Clayton, New Mexico. Also many other nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews survive.
Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary will be held on Saturday May 17th 2014 at 9:00am followed by the Solemn Mass of the Resurrection at 9:30am with Father John Trambley as the Celebrant. Rite of Committal and Interment will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Following the services a gathering will take place at the family home on 616 North 2nd St. in Raton.
