The Raton Osos will take to the field Wednesday evening for their home opener at Gabriele Field against the Trinidad Triggers at 6:00 pm.
The remainder of the week the Osos will travel back and forth to Trinidad with a game there Thursday and Saturday with the game Friday night at home.
Ray Hancock will be returning as their head coach and will return eight players from last year’s team. (http://www.ratonosos.com/raton.asp?page=4&year=2014) Those players Include Derrick Sampel, Jesse Meier, Kellen Quintana, Phil Richmond, Richard Suniga and Tim Sylvester all as pitchers. Even Richard will play catcher while Zach Kreegar will play first base instead of catcher. Hancock was more hopeful that this year the Osos will win a few more games. He actually has commented on the Osos web page that the boys will win 40 games this year. He mentioned that several of the boys were coming from Florida so it will be interesting to see how they acclimate to the elevation in Raton.
The team will also include a couple of New Mexicans Alan Scott from Rio Rancho and Kellen Quintana from San Felipe Pueblo.
To keep up with the Osos and follow them on their web page (http://www.ratonosos.com/) they also have a Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Raton-Osos/341215639310491) that can be reached from their web page as well.
