Raton Takes Best of Three to Move on In State Tourney Play

The Raton Tigers had problems in game two Saturday in the best of three series to send it to the third game to decide who would move on to the second round of state play.

Lovington scored four runs on two hits in the first inning of game two as pitcher Caleb Wood hit two batters to put two runs on base. The two hits then brought the runners in along with a couple of errors in the infield. From there however it was another defensive game as Raton only managed to post a run late in the game.

As game three got underway it looked like another defensive game was in store, then Raton connected and started a six run series with base hits. By the time the final pitch was thrown Saturday afternoon Raton had posted 11 runs with thirteen hits on the scoreboard. 

Raton will now play St. Mikes for the next round of play. St. Mikes handily sent West Las Vegas home to earn their spot in the second round of play.
