Pauline L Ulibarri, age 97, passed away peacefully on Wednesday April 9, 2014. She was a member of St. Patrick’s-St. Joseph’s Catholic Church of Raton. She was preceded in death by her husband Antonio (Tony), son Ronald Ulibarri. Parents Pedro and Bersabe Gonzales, brothers Eloy, Raymond, and Fermin Gonzales, sisters Josephine and Carlida Gonzales and Alice Archuleta.
She is survived by her son Richard and wife Susanne of Albuquerque, grandsons Jude of Dallas, Robert of Albuquerque, and granddaughter, Krista and husband Kyle Arnet of Michigan. Sister Annrieta (Anne) Dikeman of Roy and many nephews and nieces. She also had many dear friends, including Adelita and Carlos Craig, Virginia Cortez, Yolanda Romero, and Dr. and Mrs. Ragsdale and other close neighbors.
Pauline was born on March 28, 1917 in Roy, New Mexico to Bersabe and Pedro Gonzales. When she was four years old she was sent to live and was raised with her older sister and family in Mills, NM. She attended and graduated from Roy High School. She worked for many years at Floershiem Mercantile in Roy, New Mexico. She and her family moved to Springer in 1954 where she helped her husband run their business, and worked for many years at the New Mexico Boy School. They moved to Raton in 1974 where she had lived for the past forty years. She worked part-time for years for Dr. Ragsdale, where she met and became friends with many Raton Residents.
Pauline was active in the church, loved visiting with her friends and neighbors and taking care of her home and yard. The love of her life were her grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of Raton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for the excellent care provided over the years.
Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary will be held on Tuesday April 15, 2014 at 7:00pm at the St. Patrick’s-St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with refreshments after at the parish hall. Solemn Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Wednesday April 16, 2014 at 11:00am in Roy, NM at the Holy Family Church. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the Roy Cemetery.
