Glenna Hanson, age 80, died Friday, April 4, 2014 in Clayton, New Mexico.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, April 21, 2014 at the Herzstein Memorial Museum, 23 S. Second Street in Clayton, New Mexico.
Glenna Lea Hanson was born on February 1, 1934 in Des Moines, New Mexico to Arthur Wayne Hanson and Elsie B. (Green) Hanson. She received the majority of her early education at the Clayton Public School and Clayton High School. She earned a B. S. in Mathematics from the University of Houston, Texas. Glenna met Marlin Luther while in High School and they married in 1951 and had two sons, Michael E. Luther and Daniel Hanson Luther. In 1976 Glenna moved back to Clayton and began her teaching career with Clayton High School, teaching high school math for approximately 20 years. Glenna was a woman of many talents, among them she was an adept carpenter as well as an artist. While still teaching school, she joined the Civil Air Patrol and received her private pilot license. After retirement, Glenna served as the secretary of the Union County Hospital Auxiliary and was involved with the Herzstein Museum as well as the Clayton Arts Council. She was a good friend and had a deep love for family, friends, animals, music and the great outdoors. She gardened and made many improvements to her home here in Clayton. She was much loved and will be sorely missed. In addition to her parents, Glenna was preceded in death by her husband, 1 sister; Lois Van Cleff and 3 brothers; George Hanson, Fred Hanson and James Hanson.
Glenna leaves to mourn:
2 SONS: Michael Luther and his wife Donna and Daniel Luther all of Clayton, New Mexico.
4 Grandchildren & 13 Great-grandchildren.
3 SISTERS: Sonia Maulsby and her husband Gene of Clayton, New Mexico, Shirley Durbin and her husband Carl of Lubbock, Texas and Sharon Kear and her husband Rex of Moore, Oklahoma.
3 BROTHERS: Norman Hanson, Paul Hanson and Bert Hanson and his wife Ruth all of California.
And a host of nieces and nephews.
MEMORIALS: The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, Memorials be made to the Herzstein Memorial Museum, 23 S. Second Street, Clayton, New Mexico 88415 in Glenna’s Memory.
