Alfredo (Alfred) Medina, age 82 of Springer, NM passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday March 22, 2014. Alfred was born June 22, 1931 in Roy, NM to the late Alfredo and Maria Elena Archuleta Medina. He grew up and lived all his life in northern New Mexico, the land that he loved.
Alfred was married for many years to Mary Frances Medina (Montoya), and together they raised five children.
Alfred was preceded in death by his parents, wife Mary Frances Montoya Medina, and one grandson Dereck Tempel.
He is survived by his children by his children Robert Medina (Phyllis) of Springer, NM, Patricia Tempel (Jimmy) of Albuquerque, NM Cheryl Martinez (Adrian) of Albuquerque, NM, Teddy Medina of Santa Fe, NM and Stephanie Russell (Cliff) of Colorado Springs, CO, six grandchildren (Gabe, Carmela, Bryan, Andrew, Katie, and Kerri) and two great grandchildren (Thomas and Sofia).
Alfred proudly owned and operated his own company, Medina Trucking Company, for many years with his son Robert. Together they travelled the state of New Mexico building many roads, bridges and highways. He also enjoyed camping, fishing, and hiking in Cimarron Canyon and spending time at family outings and with his grandchildren. Alfred was a wonderful man who was always there for his family and friends in time of need and who always took time to look for the simple pleasures in nature and in life and the beautiful things in this world.
The Medina Family would like to thank the caring staff at Pikes Peak Hospice and University Hospital in Colorado Springs, CO for their excellent care of Alfred, and concern for the family. In lieu of flowers the family asks that any memorial donations be made to your favorite charity or wildlife fund, in the name of Alfred Medina.
Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary will be held on Saturday April 12, 2014 at 9:30am at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Springer, NM recited by Frank Cimino. Solemn Mass of the Resurrection will follow at 10:00am with Celebrants Father Izuka and Father Balizan. Rite of Committal and Inurnment will be at Springer Cemetery.
Arrangements for Alfredo Medina are under the care and direction of the Alderette Pomeroy Funeral Home of Raton.
