Raton City Commissioner Ron Chavez working on his hands and knees in front of the Raton post office scrubbing graffiti off the sidewalk. Chavez told us he’s had several complaints on the offensive graffiti , but since the post office is a federal building and the sidewalk is the city’s property, the maintenance dept. at the Federal Building said it was not their responsibility Chavez said the city personnel were busy patching holes in pavement and indisposed so he took it upon himself to get materials and do something about it. KRTN applauds his initiative and being proactive in trying to fix a problem when it’s just as easy to say, “ it’s not my job”.
