Matthew Ray Sanchez age 37, of Raton, NM, passed away Saturday March 15, 2014 in Santa Fe, NM. He was born February 25, 1977 in Raton the son of William R. and Shirley Bernice Maldonado-Sanchez. He was a member of St. Patrick’s-St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, the Legion of Mary and loved baseball and was a member of the Raton Men’s softball League.
Matthew is preceded in death by his father William “Wedo” Sanchez, paternal grandparents Charlie and Clara Sanchez , maternal grandparents Mike and Ofelia Maldonado and numerous aunts and uncles.
He is survived by his soul mate Maria Aguilar of Raton, mother Shirley Bernice Sanchez of Raton, three daughters Shania Sanchez, Jaden Zomora, and Mariah William all of Raton. Sons, Tyler Hightower and Matthew Sanchez of Raton and Demarco Sanchez of Denver, CO. and twin sons on the way. one sister Donna Sanchez Pino and husband Ivan of Buena Vista, NM, one brother Robert Sanchez and companion Sandy Casias of Raton. And numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews and many friends.
Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary will be Friday March 21, 2014 at 9:00 A.M. at St. Patrick’s-St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Raton , Mass of the Resurrection will follow at 9:30 A.M. with Father John Trambley as the celebrant. Rite of Christian burial will be in the Fairmont Cemetery in Raton.
Pallbearers will be Jeremia Sanchez, Jurias Sanchez , David (Doozer) Martinez, Daniel Gallegos. Honorary pallbearers are all friends.
Their will be a reception after the service ant the St. Patrick’s-St. Joseph’s Parish Hall.
